EJ Obiena, Athletics
EJ Obiena was born on November 17, 1995, in Manila, Philippines. In 2014, he caught the attention of Ukrainian pole vault legend Sergey Bubka and began training in Italy under coach Vitaly Petrov, who was also Bubka’s coach. Obiena is the first Filipino to receive a scholarship from the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
